Indentation and Scratching with a Rotating Adhesive Tool: A Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study

چکیده

Abstract For the specific case of a spherical diamond nanoparticle with 10 nm radius rolling over planar Fe surface, we employ molecular dynamics simulation to study processes indentation and scratching. The particle is rotating (rolling). We focus on influence adhesion force between surface damage mechanisms surface; modeled by pair potential arbitrarily prescribed value strength. With increasing adhesion, following effects are observed. load needed for decreases so does effective material hardness; this effect considerably more pronounced than non-rotating particle. During scratching, tangential force, hence friction coefficient, increase. torque keep adds total work scratching; however, without slip minimum. In sense, induces most efficient scratching process. both length dislocation network generated in substrate reduces. After leaving (partially) covered atoms scratch groove roughened. demonstrate that these based atom transport under from front towards rear; already occurs repulsive but severely intensified adhesion.

a study on rate making and required reserves determination in reinsurance market: a simulation

reinsurance is widely recognized as an important instrument in the capital management of an insurance company as well as its risk management tool. this thesis is intended to determine premium rates for different types of reinsurance policies. also, given the fact that the reinsurance coverage of every company depends upon its reserves, so different types of reserves and the method of their calc...

Pore-spanning lipid membrane under indentation by a probe tip: a molecular dynamics simulation study.

We study the indentation of a free-standing lipid membrane suspended over a nanopore on a hydrophobic substrate by means of molecular dynamics simulations. We find that in the course of indentation the membrane bends at the point of contact and the fringes of the membrane glide downward intermittently along the pore edges and stop gliding when the fringes reach the edge bottoms. The bending con...

Effects of Aluminum Incorporation in Tobermorite Structure on Chloride Diffusion: A Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study

In this paper, the effects of different aluminum to silicon ratios in silicate chains of calcium silicate hydrates (C-S-H) are evaluated on the diffusion coefficient of chloride ions by molecular dynamics method. Tobermorite is a crystalline phase that is used for studying C-S-H properties in nano scale, because of its analogous chemical composition to C-S-H. Aluminum incorporation in C-S-H and...

A comprehensive study of HSA interaction with TMP using molecular docking and molecular dynamics methods: as an appropriate tool for drug delivery systems

Background: Human serum albumin (HSA) is one of the most prominent protein in human blood. Trimethoprim (TMP) is an efficient antibiotic drug for treatment of pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP). Patients with HIV/AIDS and cancer are extremely affected by the disease due to immune system deficiency. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the molecular dynamics simulation (MD) of HSA with TMP...
